2019 CREATE – An event for all

Hopefully, you didn’t miss CREATE which was on June 25, but if you did, we want you to come next year! Take a look at what happened.

CREATE is our annual Arts Festival, hosted by our amazingly talented Arts Department led by Aimee Gust. This Festival represents the broad gamut of what the Arts is at State High – Visual Arts, Media Arts, Film & Television, Dance and Drama. We didn’t forget Music – they have a festival all of their own later in the year.

On the night, our students performed dramatic skits and original choreography in front of adoring parents and very enthusiastic friends. The halls of I block were adorned with a diverse and eclectic display of student artwork while in classrooms students led panels of inquiry and discussion. Its amazing what these students can do and the imagination behind it all.

In conjunction with CREATE, the annual Food Truck Fundraiser held by the Dance P&C Sub-committee certainly brought the carnival feeling to this great night showcasing our talented students.  It was so lovely to see families, school staff, groups of students and indeed quite a number of past students milling around the various food service installations enjoying each other’s company, catching up and celebrating this really festive school community event.
It was an extraordinary atmosphere which made us all proud of being a part of the BSHS family!

At the finish siren, 500 sausages had been sizzled, all our home baked cakes had disappeared and every one of our food trucks rolled out empty.  The net result was a very satisfying $3,600 worth of clear funds to help support our BSHS Dance Troupes.
